Angela Stanton

Hi & Welcome

A bit about me...

I'm a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and an accredited member of the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist (BABCP) which is the lead organisation for CBT.

I have a BA(Hons) in Psychology and Social Policy and a Post graduate Degree in Alcohol and Drug Studies . I've worked within the mental health field for more than 15 years; working in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors across Inverclyde and Glasgow.

I've gained a vast range of experience working with clients who have wanted to work through their own or others mental health, substance use, mood disorders, eating issues and issues related to life adjustment and relational issues.  I am determind to help people to reach their own journey in therapy no matter how hard that journey is for them. My motto is never let your thoughts define who you are. What you think about yourself is much more important than what others think of you, so please reach out and get in touch if i can help you.

A bit more about my acreditations...

When I qualified as a CBT psychotherapist, I wanted to provide the best service to my clients, to do this I furthered my training and I am now a fully Accredited member of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. (www.babcp.com). To be a member I adhere to their code of ethics and meet their standards of Continued Professional Development (CPD).

I receive clinical supervision from another experienced accredited CBT Psychotherapist to ensure that my practice remains at a high standard. Doing this on a monthly basis just reminds me how important and blessed I am that I am able to help people through their difficult time.

TESTIMONIALS

'Angela was a great therapist, conscientious thoughtful and thought provoking. I felt

appropriately challenged at times and welcomed the open and relaxed way in which she

approached my therapy. I needed to unburden myself and lay out the issues I was trying

to deal with and in Angela I found the perfect therapist who helped me un pack and re

pack for my ‘exciting’ journey ahead, which wasn’t on the horizon when I started. Thank

you, Angela'

'The service has helped me with my anxiety and how to control it. I now feel less anxious, and

have allowed me to be a driver in my car again. It has helped me to take notes of how I am

feeling and make me look at other options to discuss the difficulties. I have become more

confident in controlling my anxiety. Also able to recognise my anxiety and deal with it in the here and now. Completing my relapse prevention has helped me especially towards other factor in my life.'

'The experience was a very positive one for me. I felt engaged and supported through the process and believe it has made a real difference to my well-being, not only in the short term but giving me the tools to manage in the longer term.'

'Angela has helped me deal with a recurrence of anxiety and worked with me to reinforce the learnings from my previous course and provided additional tools and techniques to help me manage my anxiety better. As previously my experience has been very positive and made me feel involved in the process at every stage'

'Angela is fabulous. I absolutely loved talking to her, felt very safe and secure at all times and

able to share with her, I always looked forward to our sessions. Angela gave me the tools I

needed to deal with parts of my life I was allowing to run me rather than run them. I’ve been

very successful in using them in some aspects and not as successful, or I should say slower, at

using them in others. Angela helped me focus on the top aspect that I needed help with and that

has been a constant for me ever since. I’ve been dealing with this particular person using all the

tools Angela equipped me with for 6 months plus now and I feel great about that, it has worked

for me and they have adapted to my boundaries which only spurs me on to continue. Now I am

focusing on other areas that I have let slip – work for instance. I think as I have experienced

sustained success with one area I now feel like I can unlock the other areas with more

confidence. Thanks to Angela I am a better, more focused, energised parent to my daughter and I can’t thank her enough for that. I feel empowered, independent, and frankly unstoppable now. I have certainly had dips since I stopped my CBT but I have dealt with them much better and not

allowed them to completely derail my life.'
